John Leguizamo Is 'Del Boy' Trotter
In US remake of Only Fools And HorsesHere's a story to make you wonder whether it's Shrove Tuesday or April Fool's Day or indeed 'What The Cr#p?' Day. Yes, that's right: John Leguizamo has been cast as Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in ABC's US pilot of Only Fools And Horses. The '80s British telly staple is to be dusted off and given an American makeover. Leguizamo has taken the lead role as part of his new development deal with ABC, although there's no word yet on who'll be joining him behind the wheel of that Reliant (or US equivalent) as Rodney.Scrubs writers Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley are charged with translating the references to Trevor Francis tracksuits and pot pourri into something US-friendly. According to Deadline Hollywood, Leguizamo's long-time manager Jeff Golenberg takes exec-producer duties.Question is: what have you got left when you strip away the '80s get-rich-quick, cushty cockneyisms, references to Uncle Albert looking like Captain Birdseye and Del driving around Peckham in a wobbly three-wheeler? The Office spanned the cultural divide with surprising ease and Shameless is doing likewise, but the original Del Boy, David Jason, recently questioned whether Only Fools And Horses could repeat the trick: "It might work but you've got to change it so much that, in the change, in order to Americanise it, do you lose the whole concept of the piece?" Time will tell. So who to play Rodney and Trigger? Answers below. Nick Nolte for Uncle Albert, obviously.[[Poll629]]

Bill O'Reilly Becomes a Supporter for... Ellen DeGeneres?
Bill O'Reilly, Ellen DeGeneres Ellen DeGeneres may have found a surprising new shopping buddy! DeGeneres recently became a spokesperson for JC Penney, but conservative group One Million Moms protested, claiming that the retail chain was jumping on the "pro-gay bandwagon" and calling for JC Penney to fire DeGeneres. On Wednesday's O'Reilly Factor, conservative pundit Bill O'Reilly spoke out in favor of DeGeneres and JC Penney's decision to retain her as their spokesperson. "I don't think that's the spirit of America," he said. "What is the difference between the McCarthy-era communitst blacklist of the '50s and the Million Moms saying, 'Hey, JCPenney and all you other stores, don't you hire any gay people. Don't you dare.' What's the difference?... A conservative group in the country is asking a private company to fire an American citizen based on her lifestyle. I don't think that's correct." Watch videos of Bill O'Reilly O'Reilly clarified that he supported the One Million Moms and other traditional-valued shoppers for speaking up and boycotting JC Penney, but for him, the issue was about ethical business practices. Earlier, the One Million Moms released the following statement: "By jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon, JC Penney is attempting to gain a new target market and in the process will lose customers with traditional values that have been faithful to them over all these years... The majority of JC Penney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there." Check out photos of Ellen DeGeneres On her talk show, DeGeneres initially joked, "Being gay or pro-gay isn't a bandwagon. You don't get a free ride anywhere. There's no music... Occasionally we'll sing 'We Are Family.' But that's about it." But she also addressed the topic seriously. "This organization doesn't think that I should be the spokesperson because I am gay... So they wanted to have me fired, and I'm proud to say that JC Penney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson... I really want to thank everyone for supporting me. If you don't know me very well... here are the values that I stand for: I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated and helping those in need. To me, those are traditional vlues. That's what I stand for." Whose side are you on?
